Some artists are ok with people using their phones at their concerts, I mean it’s impossible to avoid so why fight it? Until now.
Alicia Keys, Dave Chappelle and a few other performers have started using a gadget called “Yondr”. It’s a phone case all concert attendees are made to put their phone in upon entry. It prevents access to your phone while in the performance area. If you need to check messages or make a call you can take your phone outside of the phone free zone and tap a disc that will allow you to remove your phone. You would then have to put it back on if you want to re-enter the concert.
I am curious to see how it would be enforced and what happens to all those cases at the end of the show? Not to mention the cost. Is having someone with their phone out at a concert really that big of a deal?
