In 2002, a Canadian loonie buried at centre ice at the Olympic winter games in Salt Lake City brought the Canadian men’s and women’s hockey teams luck winning gold. In Rio de Janeiro, 14 years later, another lucky loonie has been buried but this time on the golf course.
A course architect, Ian Andrew, who is based in Brantford, Ont., worked on the Campo Olimpico de Golf in Rio de Janeiro. He stashed the Canadian $1 coin at the heart of the 18th green to bring our Canadian golfers some extra luck.
