Frances Bean Cobain’s divorce proceedings are getting ugly, especially since no prenuptial agreement was signed.
The 24-year-old daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain is ending her two-year marriage to 31-year-old Isaiah Silva. According E! News, he is now asking for a monthly payment of $25,000 (or $300,000 annually) in spousal support from Cobain. Court documents say this money would be used for expenses including clothes ($200), rent ($4500), and private school fees ($3333) for his child from a previous relationship. Silva is also claiming he left steady employment when they got married and his band, The Eeries, took on significant income losses from the divorce proceedings.
Since there is no prenup, Silva is entitled to half of Cobain’s assets during their marriage. No doubt, Silva also has his eye on Kurt Cobain’s estate, which is valued at $450 million.
Original divorce documents included Cobain’s request that anything within her father’s estate stay with her and that Silva not receive any financial gains from it. She did, however, express interest in paying and receiving spousal support.
In July, Silva had claimed Kurt’s guitar from 1993’s MTV Unplugged show was given to him as a gift, which Cobain vehemently denied.
The couple wed back in June 2014, and divorce papers were filed in March, citing irreconcilable differences.
