Dos Equis has found a younger, Spanish-speaking actor to replace the “Most Interesting Man in the World,” who is enjoying retirement up in Mars.
French actor Augustin Legrand will replace Jonathan Goldsmith as the new pitchman for the Heineken-owned beer brand. Appearance-wise, there are a lot of similarities between the two characters–except Legrand is 36 years younger. However, Legrand’s character seems to be a MacGyver type that focuses more on adventures in the present, while the “Most Interesting Man” reminisced about events from the past.
The “Most Interesting Man in the World” campaign ran for 10 years and proved extremely successful for the beer brand. Dos Equis became the fastest growing beer brand in the United States, and hopes the new character will help to maintain that status and continue expanding its customer base.
Dos Equis will reveal more about their new pitchman in late October with a set of ads in conjunction with its sponsorship of U.S. College Football.
