When I first read about this story I thought here we go another frivolous lawsuit, a complete overreaction. But wait, maybe she has a point.
This is out of Austria. An 18 year old says her parents have been constantly posting embarrassing photos of her on Facebook since 2009 and won’t stop despite repeated attempts to get them to. She claims they aren’t just your typical cute baby photos all parents are proud of but photos of her nude, on the potty, having her diaper changed etc.
Her lawyer says that to date, her parents have posted 500 images of her without her consent, and he believes she has a good chance of winning in court. The photos have been shared to her parents almost 700 friends on Facebook and they refuse to remove them. Her lawyer says that if it can be proven that the images have violated her rights to a personal life, her parents may lose.
In this day of social media awareness you really need to make sure the image you put out is a good one, one that you can have some control over. When you’re a little kid you can’t control what your parents post.
Think she has a case or is she completely overreacting?
