With so many kids’ rep sports starting up we should perhaps look into Silent Saturdays. I’ve never heard of it here but apparently it’s a thing in the U.S.
Silent Saturdays were started to keep parents quiet in the stands and just let the kids play. When you would go to a Silent Saturday game it meant no questioning the referee, no second-guessing the coach, no berating your own child and no arguing with parents of the opposing players. Oh, and no cheering. Many leagues made it a once-a-year event.
I can’t imagine not being able to cheer but perhaps some parents take it too far and are unsportsmanlike when their kid’s team is winning.
It seems like every league has that one parent..sometimes more…that can’t keep quiet and ruins it for the kids. Remember…
