The Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) III Monument Program recognizes the service and sacrifice of the Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan by providing full-size demilitarized replica LAV IIIs to qualifying communities throughout Canada
The first monument was dedicated in Oromocto, New Brunswick which is adjacent to the Gagetown base from where many of the Canadian casualties came from.
This past Sunday they dedicated a monument in Cambridge at the Galt/Cambridge Armoury, 1 Valour Place (Ainslie St & Main St), Cambridge, Ontario
They will have another dedication ceremony this Saturday(Sept 24th) in Durham Region in Clarington — details below:
Durham Dedication Ceremony
Location: Clarington Fields, 2375 Baseline Road, Bowmanville
– HWY of Heroes Bridge Photo op time: 6:45 AM-7:00 AM (401 & Waverly Rd) The 401 & Waverly Rd bridge will be shut down for 15 min for a photo op using a drone
– On bridge LAV, Dragoons, EMS, RCMP, Fire, Police ladders crossed holding the Canadian flag.
