Early polls following the first of three presidential debates point to Hillary Clinton coming out ahead of Donald Trump in Monday night’s face off.
According to a CNN/ORC poll taken immediately after the debate wrapped, 62 per cent of 521 registered voters who watched the debate said Clinton won, compared to 27 per cent for Trump.
Public Policy Polling also had Clinton trumping Trump, but by a more narrow margin of 51 per cent to 40 per cent.
Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump said last night they will accept the outcome of the election if the other wins.
The two sparred over tax returns, trade, the threat of the Islamic State group, and personal stamina. They also went at each other over nuclear policy.
Trump avoided a specific declaration on how he would use nuclear weapons if elected president, though did say he “would not do first strike.”
Clinton repeated a previous line that someone who can be provoked by a tweet shouldn’t have access to nuclear codes.
