The Toronto Blue Jays have opened up their American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers with a bang after defeating them 10-1 on Thursday afternoon.
Toronto and Texas have had this rivalry building since last season when they met in the playoffs and the Blue Jays didn’t waste any time posting runs on the scoreboard with homeruns from Melvin Upton Jr. and Jose Bautista.
Reigning MVP Josh Donaldson came up with four hits on the day with two doubles, two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Edwin Encarnacion, who was the hero on Tuesday night with his walk-off extra innings homerun, had two hits and two runs with another strong game at the plate for the Jays.
Marco Estrada was lights out as he held Texas scoreless into the ninth inning handing the ball over to reliever Ryan Tepera.
The Jays will now get ready for the second game of the ALDS on Friday afternoon when they play the Rangers in Texas at 1:08 p.m. ET.
J.A. Happ is expected to take the mound for Toronto.
