Have you ever seen someone speeding, texting and driving or solo in the HOV lanes with a cop right there and they do nothing? It’s aggravating if they don’t see it happen . No surprise that people were not happy that this mob of motorcycles was seen stunt riding on the Gardiner right next to a police car.
This video was posted on Instagram by Toronto Bike Meets. Toronto Police are calling the actions of the motorcyclists “dangerous” but say there is a reason police don’t engage in a pursuit. Const. Clint Stibbe told Global News
“If the officer was to engage in a pursuit (and) let’s assume they focused on one individual, usually with a pack mentality if one motorcycle takes off, the whole pack will take off. Now we run into a situation with one motorcycle taking off turns into 10 motorcycles taking off … all it takes is one motorcycle to fall down and the next thing you know we have two, three, five, 10 bikes go down as a result of a multi-vehicle collision.”
Toronto police cruisers are equipped with HD cameras that could assist with a potential investigation but at this time no charges have been laid in connection with this incident and police could not confirm if an investigation has been launched.
