Given all the warnings not to do it. This may come as a surprise.
Thirty-nine per cent of young drivers (aged 16-24) admit they text behind the wheel.
That according to a new study released on Monday by Parachute.
The poll also shows 71% of teens don’t consider using their phones while driving to be very distracting.
Parachute Interim CEO Pamela Fuselli, says “It’s concerning that while many teens are still choosing to use their phones while driving when research shows that texting behind the wheel is the same as driving with your eyes closed for five seconds.”
Fuselli is calling on all young drivers to reduce distracted and drug impaired driving by pledging to #GetHomeSafe
This is National Teen Driver Safety Week, an annual public awareness campaign aimed at educating young drivers about road safety.
