An affair between Princess Leia and Han Solo? Fiction really does mimic reality.
In Carrie Fisher’s latest memoir, The Princess Diarist (in stores November 22), she recalls that while filming Star Wars, she had a three-month affair with co-star Harrison Ford. Fisher writes that when they first had sex, she was “wine-sodden” and Ford had offered her a ride home.
Fisher was only 19 at the time, while Ford was 34 with two kids and married to his first wife, Mary Marquardt.
The Princess Diarist includes selections from Fisher’s teenaged diary entries from the late 1970s, which show she fantasized about Ford asking her to marry him and that he’d give her a “gold band with diamonds (inscribed) Carrison.”
Fisher, however, admits in the book that her memories of the affair are foggy, due to “the brutal strength of Harrison’s preferred strain of pot.”
Ford divorced his first wife a few years later.
