With the holidays right around the corner, your social calendar may be filling up fast, but police are reminding you to be responsible with how you get to, and leave, those events.
The annual Holiday R.I.D.E. Checks program, Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere, will launch on Thursday, with the focus on keeping drunk drivers off the road.
Police officers will kick off the campaign at 11:00 a.m. along Humber College Blvd. Law abiding citizens will receive a rewards booklet, which contains important safety information, as well as coupons, as a thank you for driving sober.
The campaign will run to January first.
“We need to wipe out the 3-Ds – drunk, drugs and distracted driving! These all severely impair driving ability. People driving impaired place their own lives and other lives at risk – the tragedy can be enormous and destroy lives forever.” – Lorne Simon, founder of R.I.D.E. Checks.
