How many times are you interrupted while trying to get work done? Say in an hour how many times does someone phone you, call you into a meeting or stop by your desk or work area?
The lastest study out of the U.S. says office workers are getting interrupted on the job as often as 11 times an hour, costing as much as $588 billion to (U.S.) businesses each year. And those interruptions don’t count the distractions from emails, text messages and general web-surfing. One study showed a typical manager is interrupted six times an hour; another found the average cubicle worker is interrupted more than 70 times a day.
Wow. So when you’re busy trying to get work done how do you ask people in a nice way to leave you alone?
