By now, you have heard the sad news that George Michael passed away early on Christmas morning at the age of 53.
But some details have emerged of the pop superstar’s reclusive and hedonistic lifestyle.
A source revealed to The Daily Telegraph that over the past year, it appeared Michael was battling a heroin addiction. He was rushed to the ER several times and had been treated in hospital for an overdose.
Michael’s manager, Michael Lipman, had said he died as a result of cardiac arrest. This is a common cause of death among heroin addicts. No official cause of death has yet been announced.
TMZ also has released pictures of Michael taken recently, showing him to be very bloated and unrecognizable.
Meanwhile, streaming of George Michael’s music has skyrocketed since news of his death broke on Sunday. Song plays on Spotify were up a whopping 3158% yesterday from the same time period on Sunday before Michael’s death was announced.
