Below, Dave Grohl listens to his first solo demo for the first time in over 20 years.
Grohl had recorded a track called “God Looks Down” in 1990 at Seattle’s Laundry Room Studios. This was while he was drummer for the band Scream, and was just a few months before joining Nirvana.
Recorded with producer Barrett Jones, Grohl sang and played every instrument on the track. This clip is an outtake from 2014’s Sonic Highways — the Foo Fighters’ HBO docuseries.
Scream’s album version of the song didn’t come out until 1993, but still featured Grohl on drums and lead vocals…
