Frank Zappa- Back On The Road will begin later this year says a spokesperson for Hologram entertainment company who according to Billboard magazine “announced Thursday (Sept. 21) that it’s partnered with Zappa Family Trust to produce the “Frank Zappa – Back on the Road” concerts. The hologram Zappa will “be going back out on tour playing his most well-known music as well as some rare and unheard material,” according to his son Ahmet Zappa. The shows will also incorporate several of the avant-garde rocker’s esteemed collaborators, including, Steve Vai, Ian Underwood and others who played with Frank in the Mothers of Invention. The tour could be road ready by the end of this year. Fans will be excited to learn that the hologram company is also planning a production of “Joe’s Garage The Musical based on Zappa’s seminal three part rock opera in which his hologram will play the album’s protagonist, the Central Scrutinizer.
