Maureen Holloway is heard from sea to shining sea as host of The Last Word.

On television, Maureen has hosted The Dish Show, the Comedy Network’s Gemini-nominated gabfest, and Flick, the Life Network’s movie review show, as well as regular features on CTV’s eNow and Canada AM.

Maureen is currently one thesis away from completing her Master’s degree in Communication and Culture, and was recently awarded the Canadian Association of Broadcaster’s Gold Ribbon Award for Humour.

You may know her from her 20-year career in radio and television. Or you may not know her at all. Just remember: to know Maureen is to, well, know her.

As many of you know, in May of 2005 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. They threw the book at me – surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and so far so good, but the best therapy has been the support of my friends and family, and in that group I include the Mighty Q listeners.

Not a day goes by that I don’t receive several emails from you voicing love and encouragement – it’s awesome and overwhelming, and although I can’t respond to every one, I read them all and get all warm and fuzzy and emotional. I have also been approached to host/support/promote a number of cancer-related fundraisers and charity events, each one as worthy as the next. Again, more than I can handle.

So the good people at Q have put together this page to draw your attention to some of the ways in which you can make a difference. Every little bit counts, and I’m living proof of that. Thank you for all the good you have done for me. Now let’s spread it around a bit.

Get Wiggy With It! Help Cancer Patients face cancer with confidence.

Hair loss is a difficult experience for many cancer patients. It is the most public of side effects. The Get Wiggy With It campaign raises money for Princess Margaret Hospital’s Wig Salon Patient Assistance Fund. The fund will provide at no charge, a wig or hat to someone who cannot buy one.
