| On this evening David Byrne gave us a glimpse into his genius. The seemingly minimalist set-up by his standards consisted of a 5 piece band with 3 singers and 3 dancers all dressed in white against a sparse black backdrop. The layers of eloquent rhythms that David Byrne and Brian Eno have graced us with for years were visually paralleled by utilizing singers who dance and dancers who sing intertwined with a musician who sang and danced along. You were at once amazed by the simplicity, the complexity and the continuity of it. My only complaint would have been that i just didn't possess enough eyes and ears to take it all in. After starting the show with some of the newer material and filling the middle with all of the great Talking Heads collaborations we know and love he ended the evening appropriately with Everything That Happens Will Happen Today...and somehow it did. If you weren't worn out by the 4th encore! |
