I was at a battle of the bands last week for Bereaved Families of York Region. It was a great night with some really talented young groups. One of the things that impressed the judges were the names of some of the bands. I'll give them a little plug because they were pretty cool; Right Before She Falls (probably a good story behind the name but I never got a chance to ask them), Get Rebel, Pyramid Theorem.

If you were going to form a band what would you call yourselves AND what band do you think has the coolest name?

Your Favourite Food You'll Never Give Up
I was just reading a story online about how we can't blame heart disease on fast food alone because researchers have found signs of heart disease in 3,500 year old mummies. Still, it's not good for you BUT that might make you feel better if you have that one vice you know is bad for you but that you just can't give up.

Do you have one? What is the one food or drink you would never give up?

The real reason Stairway to Heaven became so huge...
There really could be some truth to this because people in radio joke all the time about putting on Stairway to go to the bathroom, have a smoke etc. Shine on You Crazy Diamond gives you much more time though to go heat up your lunch in the office kitchen.

Led Zeppelin biographer Charles R. Cross believes Stairway to Heaven became successful by accident.

"The song became successful by accident," Cross told the New York Post. "[I] had 100 DJs swear to me that they only played the song because they needed a long break to go and smoke a cigarette. If it had been a minute shorter, you couldn't have smoked a full cigarette. If it had been a minute longer, it would have been too long."

It is one of radio's most broadcast songs even though it was never released as a single. Hmmm it is ...

What is the one thing your spouse does for you that puts you in a good mood?
Besides THAT.

There was a story in the news about a new drug that is the equivalent of viagara for women. Who needs that just clean the house that will put your wife in the mood. ;)

Is there one thing your spouse does for you that makes you happy and it has to be besides the OBVIOUS.

Rock n' Roll Fantasy
Rock n' Roll Fantasy Camp is underway in Hollywood. Ace Frehley and Jon Anderson are teachers for this session. Eddie Kramer a producer/engineer who has worked with Zeppelin, Kiss etc is also on board. It doesn't come cheap to learn from the pros though with packages starting around $5000.00.

If you had the cash and could pick your teacher, any musician you want, who would you want to learn from?

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band wrap up their “Working On A Dream” tour at HSBC Arena in Buffalo this Sunday November 22nd.

For the past two months of the tour…Springsteen has been performing one of his classic albums at each show. The majority of shows has been treated to “Born To Run”. A Private Gig Just For You
When they aren’t on tour many bands and musicians play private gigs for charity or for loads of money. There was a story out awhile ago that listed who gets paid what for private shows. The Stones were listed at about $9million!! Yikes. Steven Tyler is playing a private solo concert in new Hampshire in January for charity. He probably won’t get paid a lot if at all if it’s for a good cause.

If money was not an issue what band/musician would you want to play your company party, retirement party, 40th or 50th birthday bash or whatever?
Pick a band that is still together and a musician who is still alive to make the fantasy a little more believable. ;)

Great Rock MovesDoesn't Pete Townshend look so cool in this picture. It's one thing to play the guitar well but to look this cool doing it that is another talent all together. What rocker do you think has the coolest signature move? Is it Pete doing the windmil, Daltrey swinging the mic, Angus doing his duck walk, David Lee Roth's splits? Who has the greatest rock moves?

These Are the Days of Our AerosmithLike sand through the hourglass so are the Days...of Aerosmith. The soap opera that is Aerosmith continues today. In this scene we have a hurt and bitter Joe Perry who was as surprised to see Steven Tyler show up at his gig in New York Tuesday night as the crowd was. But just when we thought all was wonderful between Steven and Joe after Steven declared "I'm not leaving Aerosmith" Joe Perry slaps Steven across the face. Ok well not really but it may have felt like it. Joe has said Steven wants to take a two year break to do his own thing and Joe's reply "We're not going to wait for Steven" Ouch! Tune in next time....
